Before Comfort World had its name, it had a standard to live up to.

The journey began in 1993 with the manufacture of specialized healthcare and orthopaedic mattresses for the Japanese market. Working in a demanding category shaped a lasting belief: a mattress is more than a product. It is a sleep surface that must respond to the person using it.

In 2003, Comfort World was formed to bring that knowledge home. The team soon recognized an important challenge. Sri Lankan customers had many mattresses to choose from, but very little reliable guidance to help them understand which surface suited their body, health needs and sleeping preferences.

That challenge gave Comfort World its purpose.

Chairman Naushad Mohideen’s instruction continues to guide everyone at Comfort World. The team’s responsibility is not to overwhelm customers with unnecessary options, but to listen, understand and recommend carefully.

Finding better answers required more than manufacturing experience. It required research.

Comfort World began working with universities and specialists to understand how people interact with different sleep surfaces. In 2007, that commitment led to an important sleep-surface study.

The work helped establish the Sleep Technology Center, created to educate consumers and medical professionals about the relationship between the body, sleep and the surface beneath it. Its educational program later received US copyright protection, while continued research and development contributed to patented solutions.

This is why Comfort World describes its team as Sleep Surface Engineers.

Where our journey with global sleep brands began.

In 2005, Comfort World became the licensed manufacturer and distributor of Spring Air, marking an important milestone in our growth as a regional sleep solutions company.

The partnership brought internationally established sleep standards together with Comfort World’s local manufacturing expertise, allowing us to deliver trusted sleep products across the markets we serve.

Today, Spring Air continues to be an important part of the Comfort World portfolio, backed by our manufacturing capability, regional knowledge and commitment to better sleep.

Expanding our commitment to global comfort.

In 2017, Comfort World expanded its international brand portfolio by becoming the licensed manufacturer and distributor of Serta, one of the world’s established names in sleep.

This partnership strengthened our ability to bring internationally recognised comfort standards to homes, hotels and businesses across the region, while continuing to manufacture locally with the expertise developed over decades.

Today, Serta is manufactured and distributed by Comfort World across Sri Lanka, Australia, the Maldives and Seychelles.
